Note 5-2012

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? (Matthew 5: 44-46)

Recently the youth of our church and I were visiting various residents at a local assisted living facility. One of the ladies that I visited was commenting on the beautiful sunrises that we had had recently. She said, “Don’t you think they have just been so beautiful lately?” Sadly I realized that I hadn’t even noticed the sunrises in months. I had been taking a class and was so intent on getting things done, that I failed to see that which was beautiful around me.

The good news was even though I was not taking notice of the sunrises, God was still supplying them, (“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good.”) And, just like the sun, God’s grace – God’s love – still rains down always, even though sometimes we don’t stop to take notice of it either.

Enjoy your week and remember - God loves you!

Jeff
